The cabin 2010

We were up at the cabin on Skunk Lake with dad and Lynna this past week. We had a great time! We stopped and saw Ellie and Greg on the way and avoided the thunderstorms! The first 2 days were great and pretty sunny! We did some swimming and some pontoon happy hours! Then it cooled off and the wind out of the north roared in! But we still had a good time, taking a long walk on Sunday and then out to dinner at our fav Mexican restaurant up north Companeros in Dorset! Monday Lynna and I went into town to do some browsing of the local shops. We had a great relaxing time. We didn't want to come home! Here are some pictures from the trip.

Here is Finch's first canoe ride. We thought it best to test him out in the aluminum canoe! He did pretty good, but we didn't go very far!

Then Duncan had to join us! He is much easier to have in the canoe, being that he only weighs 25 lbs!

We thought we might have to cut our happy hour pontoon cruise short, because of the building storm, but then it stayed to the south, so we enjoyed a nice cruise around the lake.

Duncan in his life vest!

Finch LOVED fishing for sunnies near the dock! Duncan would stand on the dock and direct him where the fish were!

We went kayaking and searched the bogs for sundew flowers! We saw three swans. It was really windy that day and we had to surf the waves back across the lake to get back. These calm pictures were in the south lake out of the wind.

Then on Monday night we had to try and get Finch in the kayak too! He did pretty good for a little bit. Then he got thirsty and wanted to drink out of the side... to say the least, Brett decided to go back after we got out a little ways, just in case. Finch looks so cute in the life vest, the HUMAN life vest! :)

Duncan does a little better in the yaks!

Last weekend we went camping at Blue Mound State Park north of Luverne, MN (http://www.dnr.state.mn.us/state_parks/blue_mounds/index.html damn near South Dakota) just south of Pipestone. It was a beautiful 85 degree weekend with high humidity. We had a walk in site that was far from everyone and we had our own rocks to climb! The picture below is of the path down to our campsite. We took a really long hike through the prairie on Saturday and hiked to see the Buffalo on Sunday. There was hardly anyone around and we were able to let Finch off the leash. He loved running ahead of us and then waiting while we caught up with him. He had a great time! Good weekend had by all!
